Announcement of an Impeachment Inquiry Vote on Biden Next Week, According to House Speaker

A crucial development is looming in the American political arena as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) announced on Tuesday that a vote authorizing an impeachment inquiry into President Biden would take place next week. During a press conference, Johnson emphasized that the House had a duty to fulfill its constitutional responsibility by formalizing this inquiry, asserting its constitutional authority for future challenges in the courts.

However, he made it clear that this vote did not constitute an immediate impeachment of President Biden. This vote is not a vote to impeach President Biden. It is a vote to proceed with the impeachment inquiry, and it is a necessary constitutional step, explained Johnson.

The prospect of impeachment arises in the context of new evidence of corruption within the Biden family, including direct monthly payments from Hunter Biden s company to Joe Biden. Republicans argue that an impeachment inquiry would provide access to more documents and allow the subpoenaing of witnesses, advancing the investigation.

The first impeachment inquiry hearing took place on September 28, but experts highlighted the need to gather more evidence. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) stated that while the Constitution does not require such a vote, it would be beneficial for the entire House to officially declare it as an impeachment inquiry.

Mike Johnson also emphasized the need for a methodical approach, referring to his experience as a member of Donald Trump s defense team during previous impeachments. With discussions already underway with Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Republicans are gearing up for a new decisive phase in the impeachment inquiry process.
