A fire broke out on Friday morning on the Pemex Nohoch-Alfa gas platform located in the Campeche Sound in the Gulf of Mexico. According to Octavio Romero, CEO of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the fire caused losses of 700,000 barrels of crude oil.
Since the incident, production has decreased due to the closure of practically all the wells in the region. However, Romero stated that 600,000 barrels have already been recovered, which is considered good news.
The fire resulted in the death of two people, several injured individuals whose condition is now stable, and one person is still missing. Search efforts are underway to locate the missing person.
Pemex is a state-owned oil company in Mexico, and the incident on its platform has had a significant impact on crude oil production. Authorities and rescue teams are actively working to contain the fire and minimize the environmental and economic consequences of this incident.
