Christophe Galtier will not continue as the coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) next season, according to L Équipe.

According to the sports newspaper, the visit of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the French capital confirms the decision to part ways with Galtier. It s worth noting that the Sheikh is the owner of Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the Qatari investment fund that acquired the club in 2011. Sources close to the matter have confirmed the departure of the 56-year-old coach, as reported by France Bleu radio.

Therefore, Galtier will be on the sidelines for the last time this Saturday to lead the match between PSG and Clermont at Parc des Princes, on the final day of Ligue 1, a tournament led by the Parisian club. This match will also be the last for Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, who will leave the French capital after two seasons, as announced by the club on Friday.

Galtier, who will not complete the second year of his contract, took over at PSG in July 2022, replacing Mauricio Pochettino. Under his guidance, PSG clinched their eleventh French championship. However, their elimination in the Champions League round of 16 by Bayern Munich tarnished their record, along with the team s performance, which was deemed below the expectations of the management and supporters.

During the QSI era at Paris Saint-Germain, the team has had seven coaches. In this regard, L Équipe highlights that the search for Galtier s successor should accelerate in the coming days. The French website Foot Mercato reported in early May that PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi of Qatar had taken charge of the matter and was working to find the right coach. Names like José Mourinho, currently at Roma, and Thiago Motta, on the bench at Bologna, are among the candidates being widely discussed.
