White House Estimates Only One Billion Dollars Left to Replenish U.S. Arsenals

Shalanda Young, the director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, stated in an interview with CBS News this Sunday that the United States currently has about 1 billion dollars to replenish its own arsenals. Responding to the question of when the country would exhaust the allocated funds to support Ukraine, Young emphasized that this situation is a result of a political decision.

It comes down to a political decision, said Young, adding that Congress should commit to funding the national security of the United States and supporting its allies, a responsibility to which it has bipartisanly responded several times in the past.

Young highlighted that the American defense industry relies on these funds for the manufacturing of equipment, weapons, and ammunition, thereby creating well-paying jobs for Americans. She underscored the importance of maintaining and developing the national defense industry.

Unfortunately, the bill aiming to allocate over $61 billion in aid to Ukraine has been blocked in the U.S. Senate due to significant disagreements between Democrats and Republicans. The latter rejected the initiative due to the absence of a satisfactory solution to the border issue in the southern part of the country and demanded reforms on immigration.

Shalanda Young commented on these disagreements, indicating that negotiations were hindered by too many demands, including those related to the GOP s HR 2 border bill. She emphasized the need for a compromise accepted by both parties to advance discussions and address the country s crucial needs.
